Rodeo Rules…

In each of 8 rivers; Teams of two must catch a fish each and log it’s size.
The goal being- Each angler on a team to catch & release in 8 RIVERS over TWO DAYS!!!

1.- Enjoy Yourselves! -You’re fishing with friends!

2. Teams consist of 2 amateurs or 1 amateur and 1 Pro*.

(a professional is anyone who has been paid to fish, I.e.-Guides, Prize $ winners/ circuit competitors or worked on a trawler! -If you Sell or manufacture gear/ services ONLY… you are not considered a “PRO” for this event.)

3. Each team member will check in, at the designated staging area/Shop and obtain numbered chest panels that identify them as competitors and are marked to help size the fish in each river. Hatch/fly recommendations shall be posted there also.

4. Fish rivers in the proper order (posted at the check in area & website), Teams will be assigned a river to start in .

5. Must have a Colorado fishing license and obey all laws.

6. Anglers may choose to record & mark the first fish they catch ..OR…release the fish without marking or recording, (with intention of opting to catch a larger fish to record).

If a second or smaller fish is caught it must be recorded. If no second fish is caught, you have lost the option to record the first fish. Hint; it is more important to log fish in all 8 rivers- no prize for catching big fish in 6 rivers! Only ‘All River Takes’ qualify for Grand prizes.

7. Each individual on a team must catch/ record their own fish Before moving to the next river. Teammates may help each other by spotting fish, netting, marking and photographing, etc. but may NOT cast to or land a fish for the other.

**Measuring done with a chest panel and sharpie provided for you by 8RR. Your cameras will be used to verify the reported sizes for prize winners. No photo-no prize.

8. You may fish the ‘Friday’ rivers 6 am -10 pm Friday, ‘Saturday’ rivers 6 am- 10 pm Saturday. Have your chest panel & cameras with you and tethered/tied to you.

9. Teams with an ‘All River Take’; Turn your chest panels in at the Saturday Nite "campfire" by 10 am on Sunday, With your total fish length added up. Bring your cameras with display to verify. - Be a good steward of the sport and the river- (read ‘etiquette‘).

10. Must attend the “Awards & Participant Picnic” Sunday (11-1 pm) Awards at 1pm.
New for 2009;
11.
If you get "stumped" in a river, you may move on and return to the river later, OR fish the "MAKE UP" river on day 2, to successfully "take" in  8 rivers.

WESTERN ETIQUETTE: (Recommended not Rules)

* Be Friendly at all times… even in trying situations, -you’ll be glad you did. (us too).

* Carry a plastic bag for refuse, and always try to leave a place better than you found it.

* Fish at least 100 ft from other Anglers.

* Wet hands before handling fish, leaving them submerged as long as possible pre-photo.

* When able, walk the bank when changing locations for less stress on fish / river bottoms.

* Knock down the barbs on hooks or use barbless.

Tips: - Have a great time, relax, not too serious now! Make a friend or two.

- Bring your chest panels to the nightly campfire, they have your name on ‘em and…!?

- It’s OK ,(even Smart), to hire or pay a guides entry to be a teammate.

- Local shops may have Multi river guide trips previous to the event to sharpen you up.

- Check the updates and calendar on the website often. Check in early.

- Don’t Hurry, Enjoy fishing itself, (“catching” is even better!). It’s for a good cause!
